Daniel J. Hilferty, CEO of Independence Health Group, said he envisions a collaboration that could become a national model for improving the health of people in such poverty-stricken areas as North Philadelphia. Such an effort would have to involve Temple, state government, insurers such as Independence, and nonprofits such as Project Home, and encompass behavioral health, housing, and jobs, all of which play a critical role in an individual’s health.
