Anna Faris said that ‘it came as a huge shock’ when her son with estranged husband Chris Pratt, Jack, was born prematurely, opening up the baby to other early health issues.
The Mom actress, 41, welcomed late night staple Jimmy Kimmel, 50, and his wife Molly McNearney, 39, onto her podcast Unqualified on Tuesday.
They discussed the respective ordeals they’ve been through as parents to children born with health complications, as Kimmel has made headlines over the past year with candid talk on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live! about his nine-month-old son Billy’s heart problems and the medical procedures the tot has endured.
Kimmel is often related it to the nationwide debate on healthcare, in particular CHIP, the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

‘Suddenly, your world completely shifts,’ Faris said of her experience amid giving birth to Jack in August of 2012.
‘Jack had a few surgeries; he had a few hernia surgeries, he’s had a few eye surgeries and he had a little heart issue as well,’ she said.

The Scary Movie star said she and Pratt were encouraged to channel their time and energy to GAPPS (Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth) a group focused on eradicating premature and stillborn childbirths.
‘The doctors and nurses that helped us and surrounded us were so unbelievably supportive,’ Faris said, ‘that it inspired Chris and I and my parents to all get involved in this.’

McNearney said that her son ‘Billy’s great’ after ‘he had his second surgery’ this past December, after which proud papa Kimmel brought him out on his program.
‘He had his second surgery and he’ll have one more when he’s older; it was tough,’ said Molly, who also has a three-year-old girl named Jane with the ABC personality. ‘But kids are so resilient: He had open-heart surgery on a Monday and we were home on Friday.’
The Entourage actress told Kimmel and McNearney she found their discussion to be ‘incredibly moving,’ adding, ‘I really appreciate how vocal you’ve been.’
Kimmel said in response: ‘Thank you – we have no choice.’
