Stan Walker has broken his silence on his personal health struggles, weeks after photos of him looking gaunt made headlines across Australia and New Zealand.
The former Australian Idol winner, 27, announced on Thursday that he will address his recent health concerns in a feature-length documentary called ‘Stan’.
A trailer for the film aired at a Mediaworks event this week, and shows Stan with medical dressing across his stomach as he says: ‘I just thank god every day that I’m alive.’

The New Zealand Herald reported on Thursday that it believes Stan has ‘had his stomach removed’.
The singer has so far remained silent on the nature of his health problems.
It comes after Fairfax Media reported that Stan had inherited a rare cancer-causing gene mutation called CDH1.

The condition has reportedly taken the lives of more than 25 of his family members.
‘Stan’ will air in New Zealand on Three in March.
On Wednesday, Stan alluded to his health woes on Instagram, posting the message: ‘Soon I will show you guys whats really been happening’.
The statement was accompanied by a close-up, black-and-white photo of Stan.

The lengthy caption offered vague details of the emotional journey Stan has been on over the last nine months.
‘I have stayed quiet for a while, I’ve sat back and let many people talk. I’ve watched assumptions be turned into facts’ he wrote.
Stan also hinted that there would be a flurry of activity from him before too long.

‘What I will say now is that I have a lot to share with you all and I have something special to show you soon. This thing we call life has taken me to places I would never have expected’ he added.
Stan finished the post by writing: ‘Whatever you may have heard, I’m telling you now, you STILL know nothing! I will share with you all very soon what has been happening. Until then, if it does not come from me, then it ain’t a thing.’
